Meaning: `kind of barley-cake' (Nikopho, Eratosth.); δενδαλίδας οἱ μεν ἄνθος τι, ἄλλοι τὰς λευκὰς κάχρυς, οἱ δε τὰς ἐπτισμένας κριθὰς πρὸ τοῦ φρυγῆναι, οἱ δε τὰς ἐκ κριθῶν μάζας γενομένας H. The α is short in Nikophon.

Etymology: Cf. σεμίδᾱλις `fine wheaten flour', further unknown. But the last word prob. from Accadian samīdu. One might think of redupl. da\/e-n-dali- (with prenasal.).
